pray in love continually and feverently. The answer may take years or may come in the twinkle of an eye. pray for patience and a tender heart and what ever you know you need and don't know you need as you pray for developement of the answer. Your first prayer for this child's development took nine months to see the answer, but took place instantaneously. God bless you.
Sometimes love from a distance is best for a season.

I'm sure that it is quite a concern for you to have your grandson in this condition. Probably the question is, what do you ask for when you pray for this situation? I know the Lord knows much more about the situation than any of us, that's for sure and it is not so much knowing exactly what to pray, but that we continue to pray and also to have others praying for him as well and agreeing with you in prayer. Whenever we venture on Satan's territory he does not let go without a struggle, and especially it is a struggle as God will never force your grandson to make a choice. But we do have counsel in James 5:16 it says "the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much". This is a great assurance that our prayers are heard. Another thing that it says that we can do and should be the first thing, is to pray for God's armor of protection (which is listed in Ephesians chapter 6). You can actually pray this for yourself, but also you can pray it for your grandson. I have listened to an amazing sermon given by Derek Morris who had some amazing answers to prayer with some of the students he was working with while at Southern campus. One girl had actually gone away from God and was being tormented by the devil. She testified after his praying that she received new strength for each piece of armor that he would pray for and then was able to resist the devil and gain the victory. Another prayer is found in the book of Job in the first chapter, this is for the hedge of protection. Remember that when the hedge was removed from Job, only after this, that destruction began to occur. Thus it certainly makes sense to pray this for our families. After all, who would want to give the devil free reign to beat up on our loved ones. Sometimes it is that children have to hit the wall before they realize where they are. I hope that he will turn and find the Lord again, this would be great and a great victory. We are called to love, to pray and not faint. God bless you in this and your family.

How do you pray for a son who is addicted to drugs and alcohol and won't forgive hurts from the past and refuses to be a part of the family?
