The credit card thefts we report have nothing to do with our website.

Our credit card transactions are secure through Verisign and Paypal. I know many use Debit cards straight from their checking account. Most banks do not allow safety with these cards in regards to maximum amount you are responsible for. The credit card we uses does not require you be responsible for any stolen transactions. But when we used a debit card, we were responsible for all, and our entire account could have been wiped out. If you always pay in full each month, then it is safer to use a credit card. Check with your bank if you use a debit card.

I spoke with the owner of a recent credit card theft and asked if he made online payments over the internet and he said he doesn't. I've spoken with other people who I've told their cards were stolen and they also indicated they never made online card payments. I really do feel that payment online is probably safer or as safe as payment in person. You don't know if that sales clerk or bank teller or restaurant waitress is scrupulous. You don't know if they're trying to get extra money by selling your card information to credit card fraud websites that sell cards. Yes, there are websites that you can log into, and purchase credit card information so that you can use a stolen card. This is big business in these "scam-ridden" countries, sadly.

Some online businesses ask for credit card information and if the url does NOT start as https: then your data is being transmitted over a non-secure method. http: is the normal URL, for non-secure, but https: means that all the data is encrypted to and from and it is being transmitted securely. Our credit cards are being processed securely through Verisign and Paypal. We never know your credit card number. We know the first four digits and last four so we can tell you which card was used if need be. We will never ask for your credit card number. Our forms for payment ask for the number, but that is handled between you, our card processor and your bank. We don't know your information and do not wish to know your card information. We will never ask you for it. If we call you, we will tell you what we have, but will not ask you.

We want you to feel secure about making payments on our website, but if you are uneasy about this, we do provide for money orders, money grams, etc., so that you don't have to send your bank or card information to us or over the internet.

God bless,
Nannette
