Ever go on a first name basis…? Well it is dangerous and your character might be supplanted. Case in point. The Lord Jesus goes on a first name basis. While He has many first names like the great I am, Yahweh, Jehovah or God. The title of God is the one that is most abused and is involved in a world wide identity theft conspiracy.
Many people have a false perception of “God’s” character and believe that He has a duel personality… that is that He is responsible for all the Good and Evil in the world…The Good, The Bad and the Ugly as they perceive it. They support this prejudice by pointing to the Old Testament, saying that “God” supported and even encouraged warfare and bloodshed. Well I say no! The Lord dealt with His people in a different manor back then, but His pretense has always been that of Love. Times were brutal back then and Israel’s existence depended upon the extinction of sin in what ever manor deemed necessary.
While we know that Satan is a coward and likes to hide, and even pretend that He does not exist in order to blame God, we do know that certain people use the word "God" in the generic sense, so they can have their cake and eat it too, so to speak. They attribute the good times and miracles that work in their favor to Jesus and, the bad experiences and things gone wrong to ”God”. Keep in mind that the bible speaks of Satan as being the ”god” of this world. By doing this they play the Lord for a fool, by playing devil’s advocate. To give credence to this “game”, they claim to speak in a foreign language that is not understood by Satan or you for that matter! They attribute this to speaking in tongues which they claim is a gift from the Holy Spirit possessed only by them. They claim that this gibberish is not understood by Satan, but understood by “God” (which one?). Therefore the devil is thwarted so to speak, before temptation ever occurs. Now an interpreter comes along and interprets this gibberish to be of the Holy Spirit as long as you believe in the doctrines of that church. If you are ever caught up in this situation and are encouraged to speak in a tongue that you do not understand, DO NOT SPEAK! Because if you refuse to accept their church they can interpret this anyway they want! Remember the Lord is Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent and you can talk to Him in any intelligible language that you choose and Satan will hear and tremble because He is already beaten!
